The site of the former Itron gas meter factory in Stretford, near Old Trafford, is set to be developed into nearly 300 homes after Trafford Council planners recommended the scheme for approval. The proposals by developer Miller Homes alongside architect Calderpeel are for 282 homes, split between 191 apartments and 91 houses. The site is currently occupied by a series of single-storey industrial units and borders Chester Road; it has been empty since Itron closed its factory in 2016. Apartments will be split across 10 blocks, ranging between three and six storeys, and include a mix of 50 one-beds and 141 two-beds. The houses are largely three-beds, with 66 of these alongside 21 four-beds and four two-beds.
