Alteration to existing property, Sited in AONB
This property originally operated as a Coach House for the adjacent Erleigh Manor in Pitstone, Bucks before being converted into offices for the current owners of the Manor in 1989. The character of the existing Coach House, although not listed, was deemed to be of attractive, traditional style. It was in a poor state of repair when we were appointed as architect and the spaces did not connect or work well as a family home – they were extremely limited in size and consisted of a number of ‘inner’ and ’through’ rooms which created issues with privacy and separation of activities. Change of use into residential was sought and then the existing property was re-orientated completely and extensively remodelled and extended (the resulting house increasing in size by approximately 250% over its original area) to convert it into an eclectic five bedroom contemporary family home.
