Conversion of a rundown block of 18 bedsits to provide 1 & 2 bedroom apartments including installation of external wall insulation and MVHR systems. The existing block provided substandard accommodation that our client Liverpool Mutual Homes found difficult to let, which also attracted anti-social behaviour and security issues. BYA provided a ‘natural conversion’ design solution to provide accommodation to HQI standards while at the same time encapsulating the rear access walkways within the building envelope. This dramatically increased the security as well as improving its aesthetics. Upon completion the block became one of LMH’s most requested rental locations with 160 applications for the remaining 6 properties.
