Within a Conservation Area, Alteration to existing property
With the Rooftop Meadow House, BBA did just that; completing a substantial renovation and extension project to a detached, 18th century cottage situated in the Conservation Area of a Cambridgeshire village. The cottage had been extended ad hoc over the past two hundred years. Our clients had lived with this arrangement for a number of years but decided that a radical overhaul was needed. A new two-storey rear extension created much needed space for a new family bathroom and en-suite on the first floor, with a reconfigured master bedroom using an existing first floor extension. A new green roof, with opening roof lights, is set at eye level when sitting in the first floor master bedroom, providing a green outlook that stretches to the fenland landscape beyond. The ground floor rear extension houses an open plan kitchen, dining and living space, opening onto a new courtyard garden.
