The Eston Community Village scheme extends the care and support offered from Barnaby House Extra Care to persons with dementia, mental health problems, and learning difficulties. This is an ambitious and innovative project that aims to significantly improve quality of life. Centred on creating homes from home, we’ve used familiar environments – a courtyard, crescent and square – to offer real community atmospheres where everyone is valued as an individual. Barnaby House Extra Care currently offers care and support to over-55s. Social opportunities and services include a lounge, bistro, hair and beauty and a chiropodist. Eston Community Village adds 36 apartment homes and 13 bungalows for older persons on an adjacent 1.2 hectare site (2.9 acres), extending supported housing choice and enabling partners to stay together should one develop the need for a higher level of care. Target completion is Summer 2016.
