Bryden Wood are architects and engineers of a new hospital in Edgbaston, a suburb of Birmingham City. The hospital has five operating theatres, ten first stage recovery beds, twenty second stage recovery beds and forty bedrooms. The hospital has a comprehensive imaging department and a significant physiotherapy capacity. The project has been designed to have the capability to have a paediatric wing. Bryden Wood and CircleHealth are working closely together to establish a nucleus design that separates critical and non critical spaces and investigate different building approaches to these elements. This will allow costs to be reduced and expansion to be achieved with minimum disturbance to the hospital.
