New Build
The East of England Agricultural Society commissioned brp architects to design and traditionally procure the first phase of their new exhibition complex. This development is predominantly two huge multi-function halls, one of 1,100sqm and one of 4,500sqm. The clear span structures are fully air conditioned, designed to offer the maximum flexibility in use and provide a continuation of the existing conferencing and hospitality suites. The main hall is serviced by pods containing welfare facilities, plant rooms and support commentary. The activities to be provided for range from concerts and conferences to show jumping and exhibitions as diverse as motorhomes and livestock. Both halls comprise a mast and cable suspension support system to precambered steel beams giving a minimum clear height of 9m. The space is clad in robust dense masonry construction at low level with an acoustically modified lightweight cladding/roof system over. The roof is finished with a single ply membrane system and drained using a high velocity syphonic drainage system. Externally the project is fully integrated into the showground infrastructre and includes a new 2,000 space car and coach park and surface water attenuation system.
