The site comprises approximately 70 acres of farmland including a lake, bungalow and various outbuildings. The client demolished the majority of the existing buildings and built a new contemporary family home beside the lake. The new property comprises 700 square metres of accommodation with extensive views of the surrounding countryside and has been designed to link visually with the lake. The lake has a new boat house/home office. The property has been designed incorporating ecological principals - the orientation of the building maximises passive solar gain and passive ventilation. There is also the potential to use the lake as a thermal heat sink. The client has created new parkland with tree planting on the old farm land.
