Alteration to existing property
Brightman Clarke Architects Ltd
32 Causeway Head Road , Sheffield , S17 3DT , United Kingdom
A two storey rear house extension to provide both additional bedrooms and open plan living space to create a contemporary home for a large family. The existing property was in a beautiful setting with fantastic gardens and the main concept of this proposal was to connect the internal spaces with the garden as much as possible. Maximising natural daylight was key as the rear of the property is North facing, so the main open plan living space boasts full-height, floor to ceiling glazing in the form of aluminium sliding doors - minimising the frames and increasing connection with the garden. This same approach was taken at first floor with the main master bedroom suite over-looking the rear garden. Ground floor spaces are zoned, with well positioned glazing, varying ceiling heights and a feature Oriel window in the kitchen space to create an open plan space which flows well and creates a flexible living space.
