Alteration to existing property
Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this ancient barn has quietly turned into a semi-derelict property over the last ten years. Our Client had a dream to convert it from this state into a unique living space to ensure its continued viability within the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Following consultation with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Planning Department, we were able to secure the planning approval for the barn to be converted into a dwelling house for local occupancy and short-term holiday let. The conversion of the barn has been sensitively detailed to retain as many of the original features as possible, including the 17th Century stone door sets, the original ventilation holes which will be opened up to create slit windows, stone flags and the split levels at ground floor. Once converted the property will feature the reclaimed timber from the shippen which will be used to create internal features such as balustrades and room dividers in much the same way they were originally intended. The open plan downstairs will allow the natural light to permeate from one space to another, whilst upstairs the plan has been neatly articulated to provide two double bedrooms, each with views to the landscape of the Upper Wharfedale.
