People's Choice winner of Hackney Design Awards 2022: https://hackney.gov.uk/designawards/#winners This single family house built on an infill site which stood empty since mid C20 is located on the edge of Victoria Park Conservation Area and facing a busy road. The new two storey family home is located on an extremely tight wedge shaped site and it has a Green/Blue roof to support local fauna and provide a Sustainable Urban Drainage System solution to mitigate flood risk. Large high performance windows and skylights allow natural light into the north facing rooms bedrooms, and a MVHR system improves the air quality and ventilation, as well as the heating system's efficiency. The facade details relate to the rendered openings in local Italianate villas around the park. The house mediates between the neighbouring terrace and the rear of the streets leading to the park, therefore the frontage carefully twists and turns to protect the surrounding trees.
