Prior to the clients purchase of the property we advised on the options that would be open to them to change a butchered farmhouse back into a family home and gave a range of costs for refurbishing and remodeling this Listed Grade II farmhouse as part of a master plan for the whole farm. In collaboration with the client we negotiated with the conservation officers and obtained Listed and Full Planning consent. The scheme involved reordering of the house, with a new full height central staircase, new kitchen and the introduction of new windows, doors, canopies and a porch. The fabric of the house was on the whole in a good condition but the stone work detailing of the house was in a poor condition and we worked with stonemasons to replace and repair with the lightest touch possible. The original details of the house such as skirtings and architraves had been lost and we reintroduced these from the correct period and other little nuances to bring a charm back to the house. We coordinate the whole design team, tendered the work, and administered the contract on site.
