The brief was to establish a strong presence and identity for the restaurant within the Trinity Shopping Mall and to define the external retail area. We took the strong vertical elements from the shop front and projected these horizontally to form an over sailing canopy which carried the distinctive wagamama signage. Then using flexible sliding shop front glazing and extending both the internal American oak panelling and the restaurant furniture into this outside space we maximised the branded trading area. Internally the clean minimalist lines create a distinctive interior with interest created by the feature ceiling rafts combined with exposed services and warmth added by the veneered walls and bulkheads. Lighting is a key feature and the functional downlights are supplemented by the contemporary Zeitraum High Noon standard lamps. The tables and benches are standard designs but with bespoke upholstery and soft furnishings.
