The Parsley Hay Visitor Centre aims to develop the site so users gain a better understanding of the special qualities of the National Park responding to the demand for information about the trail and its industrial past. The building will create a focal point where visitors can find out about the nearby ancient monuments Arbor Low, and other sites of archaeological interest in the White Peak. The building will improve the cycle hire facility and meet all requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act . Also through design and signage create a sense that people have priority on this site [rather than vehicles]. In parallel with the above maximise car park capacity and effectiveness. The scheme will create facilities with a high level of energy efficiency including using renewable energy sources, maximising the use of passive solar energy and daylight, water conservation measures and re-use of locally sourced materials The development will be reflecting traditional farm buildings and the site’s railway heritage.
