The challenge of this project was improving the final result by changing the layout working with a low budget. A narrow house extended in length and half of its floor dropped down due to the existing shape of the plot. All taken from planning that was done by another architectural practice. So we needed to play only inside of this shell as all the other options were frozen. We opened the plan, used the space underneath the main staircase for the toilet and the steps leading to the dropped kitchen were simply pivoted by 90 degrees to square the remained space. The textures are simple and neutral, bringing nature inside, wood and plants. The white walls are a good reason for my clients to add their personality, one already finished and hanged on the dining wall (great job by the way). The flat simple grey floor made from micro cement highlights all above. Like an art gallery and the artist is the owner her/himself. I tried to make a space with nature inside, a space that will grow up together with my clients because home is part of their life and not mine and because my role stopped at that point where space was only a dashboard and not in a selfish way, my project. And the most beautiful thing is they like it and looked very happy when met them last time. Client review: “Tudor has taken over what was a dry stale standard kitchen extension and transformed it into a project we are genuinely excited about. He took time to understand us and build a home that reflects our tastes and lifestyle. Design thinking perfectly marries form and function in an effective use of tiny space. We have a stylish functional space we are really proud to call home.” (Aida & JJ)
