Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area
1 Wilderhope House , Pountney Gardens , Belle Vue , Shrewsbury , Shropshire , SY3 7LG , UK
BCHN Architects were appointed by the National Trust to design the conversion of several barns and agricultural buildings in Shropshire and Derbyshire. The National Trust had carried out an assessment of redundant buildings in farmsteads across four counties, with a view to securing their repair and preservation via future economic viability. Three groups of barns on the Dudmaston Estate in rural Shropshire included 47 Mose, Sandybury Farm Barn and Morville Barns and Greenwood Farm and Upper Booth Farm Barn in Derbyshire. The proposals convert the existing agricultural buildings into bedroom houses for letting as holiday accommodation andUpper Booth Farm into a camping barn, warden’s flat and camp shop. The proposal are designed with a light touch conservation approach where the existing barn grouping and historic fabric are retained and adapted wherever possible.
