New Build
33a Bridge Street , CAMBRIDGE , Cambridgeshire , CB2 1UW , United Kingdom
This development provides much-needed affordable social rented housing. The scheme has been developed with King Street Housing Society and Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Society and in partnership with the City Council's Community Services department. The building provides a new home for eight dependant people in a three storey building. There are communal facilities on the ground floor adjacent to a light and airy entrance hall and circulation stair. The flats are self contained and arranged to the west of a single sided corridor flooded with natural light. The flats are lit with very large west and south west facing windows that are at heights appropriate for occupants who may spend considerable amounts of time seated and within the lounge. In addition to the group home two bungalows are provided in similar materials and detailing which provide much-needed accommodation for two elderly households, with a preference towards releasing family-sized accommodation in the area. The development was completed in 2005.
