Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, New Build
Black Building , 2 Newton Road , LEEDS , West Yorkshire , LS7 4HE
In spring 2010 the Hebden Bridge Town Hall became one of the first community asset transfer schemes in the country and the Hebden Bridge Community Association embarked on a pioneering project to develop their Town Hall to enhance its role within the community. We guided the Association through this process, engaging in a wide range of community focused information gathering, developing proposals to extend the Town Hall to create a new South facing urban courtyard facing onto the river. We worked with the client to develop a scheme for a series a local business incubator units and a large multi functional hall which helped the project to become financially viable. These interventions allowed us to address the poor accessibility of the existing council chamber and open up the building to the town.
