This project involved the development of a new residential family home within the open countryside. The property was developed as a self-build scheme based upon a Georgian country home to meet the Clients design brief. The site also forms part of a very prestigious conservation area to a small village 8 miles outside of Shrewsbury, and within the design brief was also the requirement of an annexe for parents to reside in. This requirement was carefully considered within the design to provide a more simplified subservient ‘wing’ to the principle dwelling. Careful design liaison was undertaken with the Conservation Officer to ensure that the not only was the design properly considered, but that it did not negatively impact on the village vernacular and conservation area. Base Architects not only managed the planning application stage of works, but also undertook the Building Regulations, Tender and Contract Administration providing our concept to completion service for the scheme.
