A contemporary dwelling (replacing an existing bungalow). A varied palette of materials was chosen in order to highlight particular volumes in the building that relate to specific living spaces inside. The roof has been given a contemporary twist; a bold outline of the traditional ‘house’ shape, wrapped in zinc, extends through the building form. The crisp, flat roof volume aims to bring the contemporary essence of the design to the forefront. This is enhanced by clean, white tile cladding with recessed spaces clad in timber, the intention being to harmonise the overall effect of the proposal within the surrounding landscape.
