The Millfields Apartments occupy existing buildings within a 26 acre former Royal Naval Hospital, which include a significant number of Grade II* and Grade II Listed Buildings within an historic setting. The apartments are a continuation of work the practice has undertaken at the site for the original developer which previously included masterplanning the site and the implementation of new roads and infrastructure as well as speculative office and residential conversion. In addition work has been carried out for a local community development trust comprising 36 new build starter units totalling 40,000 sq ft of light industrial and office accommodation and the conversion of a 13,000 sq ft 4 storey ward block into 16 offices. Projects have also been undertaken for a local private school initially in relocating to the site and subsequently refurbishing and building new academic and sports Accommodation. The residential element of the development sits within 5 No. of the Grade II* Quadrangle buildings and has been delivered over a phased programme of works. These have included repairs and replacements to the external fabric with new roofs, windows and stone repairs and full internal refurbishment and remodelling into residential units.
