Working in close collaboration with Wokingham Housing Ltd and the local residents, we have designed a deliverable masterplan for the Gorse Ride South Estate. This extensive estate regeneration project will replace 178 1960s pre-fab dwellings with 249 new homes, offering a mix of typologies and tenure. A large village green will form the heart of the community. Single and two-storey housing has been located around the perimeter of the scheme while three and set-back four-storey apartment buildings are locted towards the centre. We have engaged actively with local residents and the wider local community since the project’s inception to ensure that the residents’ needs and lifestyles are taken into account. A steering group, made up of local residents and elected members of the local authority, have met quarterly to review the designs. Public consultation events have also been held at evenings and weekends.
