Torfaen
£10m to £49.99M
The new 2FE Primary School will replace the existing school buildings on the Maendy School site, with one combined high-quality facility, which will be built to Passivhaus Certifcation, ensuring a low-energy and low-carbon building for years to come. Utilising a timber frame construction comprising structural insulated panels (SIPS), fibre cement tiles, and rendered panels, the fabric of the school has a low embodied carbon footprint, and allows for extensive insulation, in order to achieve the stringent Passivhaus standards. The form factor and orientation have all been carefully assessed and established to maximise the benefits of Passivhaus design, and to provide what will be an exemplar project for Torfaen to showcase the future ambition for their schools.
