New Build
Austin-Smith:Lord's first commission under the Government's Buying Solutions Framework, the new Strategic Coordination Centre for Dyfed Powys Police is one of the most rapid projects the Practice has ever delivered. Appointment was at the end of October 2009, with full Planning Approval received in March 2010 allowing construction to commence in April 2010 with an anticipated completion date of April 2011. The project will provide a purpose built facility from which to coordinate an effective response to any civil emergency that may arise in Wales. The site is located on open green field land immediately adjacent to Dyfed Powys Police's existing Llangunnor headquarters campus near Camarthen. The building is configured in an ?H? shaped plan form, with the two wings of accommodation slid relative to one another. Being one of only three SCC's across Wales, and the only purpose built facility, it is important that this building reflects its status in its appearance, being of a suitable quality and aesthetic befitting of this and it has been designed to incorporate a variety of sustainable features. A BREEAM pre-assessment has been carried out, and currently indicates the scheme will achieve a 'Very Good' rating under BREEAM 2008 Offices assessment.
