Following our Successful major development at Elmhurst Primary School, part of the New Vision Trust Academy, ATP Architects were appointed to design a second 2-Storey extension, this time providing a Preforming Arts Centre. The design incorporates a new 198sqm hall with permanent stage, and BOH areas, a multi-use classroom space for specialised subjects, office accommodation for the academy and improved circulation within the building & externally. The hall building is divided into three sections with the tallest element over the stage area where a full professional lighting rig has been installed for school performances. The hall has been designed to fit 180 seats for performances and can be adapted for other events. Four north lights over the space allow for natural light during the day, these are covered by automated linings for events. The roof of the hall benefits from a sedum roof for its environmental and rainwater attenuating properties. The project commenced on site in September 2019 and completed in April 2021. ATP provided Contract Administrator duties during the construction period. ATP have now submitted planning permission for a single storey independent building for a Special Needs Centre and currently advising the school on ways of unifying the existing 1970’s building with the new extensions.
