Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, New Build, Brownfield site, Within a Conservation Area
This Grade II listed Lodge, built in 1807, has been transformed to suit teaching in the 21st century with an added art gallery and function space. We recently completed a captivating project for Holland Park School with a highly considered internal reworking, restoration and extension. Thorpe Lodge is a Grade II listed former residential building which, since 1952, has formed part of the Holland Park School estate. The Lodge had been used for storage and the annual Sixth Form Summer Show. Our sensitive refurbishment has returned the character to the building, reworking it as an asset to the school. The jumbled sequence of internal spaces are now knitted back together, reconnecting the building to the street to encourage both school and community use. A contemporary, lightweight art gallery extension has been designed to support the wider curriculum and connect the building to the main school and landscape.
