Set in a heritage context this equestrian centre facilitates participation in horse-related activities for all. Its operators encourage people from all backgrounds to exercise and to give alternative insights into the natural world. The design rises to this challenge with a series of innovative techniques, many used here for the first time on an equestrian centre in the UK. These include an exoskeleton with clear internal span, and floor to ceiling curtain walling for light and views. It also gives a low pitch, reducing the impact on the farmhouse which remains the most important part of the composition.
