The Grade II* listed cinema had been on English Heritage’s Buildings at Risk Register for several years. There were two objectives for the scheme; to extend its lifespan for an environmentally and economically sustainable future and to protect the integrity of its Neoclassical designed auditorium. The result is a mixed-use scheme achieved via the meticulous restoration of the interior and the careful and elegant integration of 59 residential apartments accommodated in a two-storey extension oversailing the existing building and in the converted fly tower.
