A developer led scheme to convert a former poultry farm into two unique and sustainable residential properties within an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty (AONB) in the Somerset Countryside. Following an initial consent for conversion of the sheds into dwellings, the Practice worked alongside a planning consultant and the client to secure full planning permission for a revised and much improved scheme. ACA offered a bespoke service which spanned RIBA Stages 3-5, and included rationalising the internal layout and integrating energy strategies to improve the environmental performance and desirability of the dwellings. These included solar PV panels, high levels of insulation and airtightness to minimise energy demand, and heating and ventilation controlled by mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) alongside air source heat pumps (ASHP).
