As part of a whole estate diversification strategy in West Berkshire, our team secured planning permission to convert four redundant agricultural barns into modern holiday lets. The barns, once used for cattle, were in a superb location to develop unique holiday let accommodation, with access to the AONB and so selected as an appropriate opportunity for diversification. The brief to convert the Barns included the restoration and refurbishment of the existing brick buildings to maintain their historic character, as well as introducing contrasting timber wrapped extensions with sharp, modern detailing and external landscaping works. New glazing was set behind the line of existing brickwork to celebrate the rustic existing openings and a new wall build-up was installed internally to better insulate the building. The plan was laid out to provide a private bedroom wing and then a large communal living area looking out to the stunning countryside setting.
