32B Thorpe Wood , Peterborough , Cambridgeshire , PE3 6SR , United Kingdom
Our team secured planning permission for the renovation and conversion of a former rifle range outbuilding into a high-quality three-bedroom residential property. The conversion retains as much of the existing building as reasonably possible, with minor interventions to the existing openings to provide daylight into the plan and to bring the under- utilised building up to modern standards. The existing porch opening was retained to frame new infill glazing, providing additional usable internal space for the living area, framing views east. The proposed material pallet was chosen to help site the building softly in its natural context with a thoughtfully selected rural pallet including a grey zinc standing seam roof to reinforce the rural aesthetic building, vertical timber cladding and aluminium combi windows with a dark external frame to contrast with the grey of the timber cladding. Internally the existing plan of the building was divided to create an entrance hallway, living area, 3 bedrooms, study, a single en-suite and a family bathroom. The living area is open in plan and provides a kitchen, dining area and formal sitting area.
