The proposed scheme aims to re-develop the existing site at Oak Villa Farm in Lymm, Cheshire into a new residential dwelling in order to provide much needed, high quality family housing through minimal impact of development within the Cheshire Green Belt. An existing farmhouse is of high quality and previously converted to apartments, and this element remains as existing, albeit with a new 2 storey extension designed in line with the existing farmhouse. The large existing barn building was in serious disrepair and in much need of renovation. The barn is converted and brought up to a high standard of design, with a small single storey extension to provide additional living accommodation and guest bedroom. The contemporary extension aims to complement the existing rural barn architecture whilst adding a much needed ‘light-touch’ to lift the facade and create an interesting and engaging new aspect facing the garden. Existing features of teh barn are retained such as original brickwork and timber trusses. These are celebrated throughout the conversion with an open-plan living arrangement and with large floor to ceiling glazing to bring light and views into the previous dark and wet spaces. Overall this is an engaging and high-quality barn conversion in Cheshire that creates a modern family home with views out across the Green Belt landscape. The porjcet has transformed the building and saved it from falling further into disrepair with a complete thermal upgrade throughout and a heating system now run off air source heat pumps. The contemporary, characterful interior celebrates the original features and provides a series of unique rooms that meets the needs of the client.
