The proposed scheme aims to re-develop the existing site at Oak Villa Farm in Lymm, Cheshire into a new residential dwelling in order to provide much needed, high quality family housing through minimal impact of development within a Green Belt. An existing farmhouse is of high quality and previously converted to apartments, and this element remains as existing, albeit with a new 2 storey extension designed in line with the existing farmhouse. A large existing barn building was in disrepair and in much need of renovation. This barn is converted and brought up to a high standard of design, with a small single storey extension to assist with accommodation. The contemporary extension aims to complement the existing rural barn architecture but add a much needed ‘light-touch’ to lift the existing building into an interesting and engaging overall design. Existing interesting barn features are kept and celebrated within the design. Internally the barn celebrates open-plan living with large floor to ceiling heights and original timber features. This large barn conversion in Cheshire creates a modern family home with views out across the landscape with a contemporary, characterful interior that celebrates the original features of the barn.
