Arden Kitt were commissioned to develop designs for a contemporary and sustainable remodel and alterations to an existing 1960's bungalow. Our solution was to remove the roof and add new open plan living accommodation to the first floor, to make the most of the fabulous views to the south of the site and to improve access to the elevated rear garden. Early dialogue with the local planning authority was key to us being able to develop an innovative proposal for the locality, whilst meeting key planning policy requirements. Our practice principal worked closely with the planning case officer who supported the contemporary design approach and helped secure permission at the first attempt. The project is being procured as a self build, with our client managing construction and Arden Kitt architects providing a package of detailed construction information and ongoing support during construction.
