The NRP Enterprise Centre will be a new super low carbon gateway building to the University of East Anglia, combining academic accommodation with new green business hatchery spaces, and demonstration areas for radical eco construction try-outs. Designed to both Passivhaus and BREEAM Outstanding, embodied energy in the new building is going to be one fifth of a standard University building. Architype are using local materials and labour, including hemp, flint, a rammed chalk lecture theatre, and the facade is going to be thatch - working with the Norfolk Thatchers to use this traditional material in a contemporary setting.
