New Build
We were appointed to redesign the planning permission of a new-build country home, replacing an existing WW2 structures in the Surrey greenbelt. Our design is a partially split-level and two-storey single family dwelling with an attached double garage, outbuildings and an outdoor swimming pool. The new design blends into its countryside setting with a combination of locally sourced natural materials - dry stone walling and timber and zinc cladding, the latter in reference to the WW2 structures and agricultural buildings close by. The key benefit of the redesign is the reorientation of the dwelling with a north-south axis, sympathetically responding to its setting and optimising the building’s orientation for renewables. Building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and a ground-source heat pump, combined with a high performance building superstructure, deliver a eco home brief. Waverly Borough Council was supportive of this redesign.
