This country home in Chiddingfold, Surrey is Grade II listed, originally dating back to the 17th Century and set in extensive grounds. Later extensions had been less supportive of the original character. Our design therefore replaced a disused porte cochère with a smaller, sandstone-clad entrance and cloakroom extension, thereby reestablishing the central position and use of the 17th Century entrance. Interior alterations focused on laying bare the historic building elements whilst stripping back later additions in order to form a new principle entrance with feature staircase and a new internal circulation route across the deep plan building. Principle living spaces were reconfigured as open-plan accessed via the new circulation route, now supported by a large roof light delivering optimum daylight levels. External works included the meticulously restoration of the listed stone facades and chimney to preserve the future health of this building. Our services also included interior and bespoke furniture design.
