This is St Columba's Church, after Iona perhaps the most important medieval religious settlement in the Scottish Islands. Dates from the 14C on and older site associated with followers of St Columba, and the base for the establishment of Christianity in the Western Isles. Erosion has brought the sea right up to it, and neglect has allowed the building to become dangerous. We are providing support and early stage management services to the Urras (Trust) which has set itself the task of consolidating the building and its surroundings.
