A tight backstreet site adjacent to local housing, shops and a swimming pool offered a genuine challenge. By organising the bedrooms and communal areas around a courtyard; overlooking issues are avoided. The facade at ground floor weaves in and out to create enough accessible space at the base of the building for people and vehicles. The scheme is designed to fit into its surroundings but offer a modern interpretation of a carehome to promote the regeneration of the town centre.
