This stately family residence for an international client has become our first project designed entirely in BIM. All architectural, structural and mechanical design was run on a single shared model, initially built from a full 3D laser scanning of the property. This method allowed us to prepare a detailed and well-coordinated tender while dynamically responding to the client’s evolving requirements. The construction stage will feature continued work on the model by M&E sub-contractors and other specialists, ensuring reduced time and cost of installation. At the end of the project we will be able to hand over a high-quality interactive schedule of ‘as-built’ information. AR Architecture acted as the architect and the lead consultant, leading a high-profile international professional team. The house is Grade II* listed and located in the Grosvenor management area. Several successive planning applications were made and we have worked closely with both Westminster City Council and Grosvenor Estates to obtain permissions for all aspects of the scheme.
