Our clients wanted to convert their existing buildings for residential use, splitting them into two apartments each. A mansard style roof was removed from an office building to knit the scheme into the existing victorian terraces. External balconies were added to a carpentry workshop to provide external amenity space. The new-build construction bridges the gap between these buildings both spatially and stylistically, creating a further five apartments. Fabric improvements were made to the existing buildings to increase energy efficiency. The new apartments, constructed with highly insulated timber frames achieve a 35% improvement over current building regulations. All apartments were fitted with Heat Recovery Ventilation to provide pre-heated continuous fresh air and further reduce energy consumption.
