In 2015, following competitive interview, AOC were appointed by The National Archives (TNA) to develop a masterplan for the public spaces of their Kew Campus. This included the redevelopment of 7,300 sqm of public facilities over three floors – welcome, retail, catering, gallery, library and document reading rooms – and the external landscape. We worked closely with staff and the wider community to develop a phased masterplan and deliver the first two phases, including a new public entrance and restaurant, a first floor café, a new events space and learning centre. In 2017 TNA undertook an open OJEU tender process to identify a design partner for the development and delivery of the masterplan. AOC won the process and in August 2017 were appointed as The National Archives design partner until 2022. Phase 3 design development is currently underway.
