The first shell to be fitted out at Manhattan Lofts Bankside development. Our aim was to retain the scale and feel of the original warehouse space. The sleeping decks, work area, bathroom and copious storage was ingeniously sculpted within and around the existing structure, leaving an open plan volume to live and grow within. We respected the well-worn nature of the of spice warehouse by ensuring the original built fabric was exposed and unharmed, and restraining any whims for a signature statement. New inserts were either unapologetically modern in crisp painted plasterwork yet the flooring, shelving and kitchen were formed from mellow reclaimed materials such as centuries old European walnut and Welsh Slate.
