Mellor barns ( c1870) situated in Alrewas, involved the refurbishment and demolition of 2 derelict barns. Sited in a conservation area, the development opportunities were controlled. The glazed gable ends and high insulation specification have created a light and warm dwelling. Sustainable methods including locally sourced materials, solar panels, wood burning stove and high spec glazed units have helped achieve an energy efficiency rating of B. Completed in 2014 the house provides a highly insulated environment using sustainable materials and energy sources.
