This proposed development, for which Allies and Morrison have prepared the masterplan, involves the creation of a new town centre extending to both sides of the North Circular ring road. Served by a new railway station on the Thameslink line and a rapid transport system connecting into the London Underground, the new town centre will create a sustainable community with up to 4,000 dwellings, 4 million sq ft of office floor space and a variety of other retail, hotel and industrial uses. The masterplan has evolved in response to consultation with the local community, and a public exhibition of the proposals held in the summer of 2001 gave a further strong endorsement to the proposals. The scheme is currently being further developed in consultation with the local authority and the GLA, and an outline planning permission has been granted.
