Albany House involved the redevelopment of a block in the Stonebridge estate of St Ann’s, in Nottingham, to create a new build mixed use facility for older people. The development created seventy-one extra care residential apartments, with a specialist dementia day centre, café, hairdressing studio, landscaped gardens, and a variety of community facilities. The works included improvements to Pym Street to create a landscaped ‘homezone’ and public space. The aim of which was to improve the outlook for both existing and new residents, whilst connecting the new building to its surroundings. Externally, high quality materials were chosen to clad the building. A mixture of red brick, Falzinc metal cladding, cedar boarding and glass, were used in a contemporary manner to give human scale to the elevations.
