Within a Conservation Area
Our clients purchased a property in a Conservation Area that was originally built as a family house but that had subsequently been divided into 3 self-contained flats. Our project brief was to convert the property back into a family house and to carry out all the interior, as well as the architectural design, of the scheme. The house was dark and gloomy so our design aim was to spatially open up the interior and bring as much light as possible into it. The house was transformed by designing new balanced front and rear elevations, changing the position of the front door, creating a large hall with new staircase, generally opening up the interior on all floors and introducing large areas of glazing. The rear of the house was completely opened up and was extended by 4 metres which gave a space that was approximately 10 square metres on the ground floor within which an open plan kitchen, breakfast, dining and living areas were created. The upper floors were planned to provide bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a games room.
