New Build, Para 79 house, Sited in AONB
Basepoint , 1 Winnall Valley Road , Winchester , Hampshire , SO23 0LD , United Kingdom
A one off para 79 which took its concept from the historical nature of the site - a secret WWII airfield used by Cunliffe Owen to fly in Spitfires for alterations to be made into Seafires. ATA pilots (mainly women) flew the planes from this grass runway which was surrounded by trees for camouflage, one of whom was Mary Ellis. Two schemes were designed, one which looked to provide a single house whilst the second provided an annexe arrangement for a carer to live independently of their patient.
