This is a unique four-bedroom family house on the site of an old stately home in the South Downs National Park. The form is a simple composition of a first floor timber element, floating over a glazed ground floor. The glazed southerly elevation takes full advantage of the spectacular views across the downs. A modern, open living arrangement occupies most of this ground floor. The design has a very low carbon footprint with excellent thermal properties and controlled passive solar gain from the glazed elevation. Photovoltaic cells on the roof provide an electrical supply to the house. The house has recently been the focus of feature articles in both New Forest Exclusive and Hampshire Life magazines.
