New Build
The existing club house, having been constructed cheaply in the 1960s, was in poor condition and was ready for replacement. The site was steeply sloping, and proposals dug into the slope to allow both long views and direct greens access from the first floor reception rooms. The scheme was designed to exploit both the buildings mass, through use of its semi-buried form, and its heavy structure to achieve passive solar heating and cooling through use of geo-thermal air intakes and thermal storage in the mass of the materials used in construction, along with stack effect ventilation to achieve cooling.
