AGA Associates were appointed to design and deliver a comprehensive internal reconfiguration and double-storey extension for a residential property on Felstead Road. The project aimed to enhance the home’s spatial efficiency while maintaining a strong connection to its traditional architectural context. Our design approach embraced a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary materials. Externally, we utilised locally sourced stone and natural timber cladding, ensuring that the extension complemented the existing architectural character of the area. The addition of grey metal window and door frames provided a refined contrast, adding a contemporary touch while maintaining visual continuity with the traditional elements. Internally, the reconfiguration focused on maximising natural light, improving flow between spaces, and creating a modern, open-plan layout suited to contemporary living. Large glazed openings and carefully positioned skylights introduced abundant daylight, enhancing the sense of space and connection to the garden. The double-storey extension significantly increased the home’s footprint, adding a spacious new kitchen, dining, and living area on the ground floor, as well as a luxurious master suite and additional bedroom on the upper level. Thoughtful detailing, high-quality materials, and a seamless indoor-outdoor transition define the project, resulting in a home that is both aesthetically refined and highly functional. By integrating sustainable materials and energy-efficient solutions, AGA Associates ensured that the extension not only meets modern performance standards but also respects the heritage and character of Felstead Road’s architectural landscape.
